HERITAGE TRAIL

Cultural Tour is all about understanding the culture, traditions and the heritage of the local people. The principle embedded in such tours is to promote sensitivity to other cultures that will result in tolerance. Our cultural tours have itineraries that take you ancient and medieval places in Nepal, India, Tibet and Bhutan and where you will see the great historical and religious heritage of the people of these lands. It is these sites that have shaped these countries and still continues to influence the daily lives of its people.

But the heritage of these 4 ancient lands isn’t just their history, their temples, palaces and monasteries. The beautiful and vibrant culture of the people are integrated into their lifestyle, values, art, music, cuisine, folklore, religion which are all part of their right cultural heritage. It is therefore important that you learn about these as well during your travels.

When you are travelling in the city of Kathmandu, you will be able to understand the deep relationship between the values of the people are the images of the Gods carved upon wood hundreds of years ago. When you are in Bhutan you can see the ornate monasteries dedicated to the myriad deities of the Buddhists. These heritage sites are as important as the value it creates to the spirituality of the people of both Nepal and Bhutan. The purpose of our cultural tours is not just to show you these values but to also to show you how even in the far flung regions of these beautiful countries, those values have not deterred the people from attaining a form of spirituality.

Heritage trails are interesting. They encapsulate all the beautiful things that man’s spiritual and moral quests have achieved. We believe that it must be shared with the world so that it can promote respect and tolerance.

WALKING TOUR

Our cultural tours include a lot of walking tours. These are activities that have to be taken on foot while visiting certain sites, most of them being historical or religious in nature. A portion of our destinations have cultural and heritage sites where vehicles do not reach or are not allowed in. These could be temple or palace complexes within which there could be hundreds of temples (each bearing some significance) and palaces which have been preserved. In order to visit these places closely, you will have to take walking tours.

In the case of visiting monasteries or museums, walking tours must be taken. While cultural tours does not involve hiking but there are lot of heritage villages in Nepal and Bhutan where you can see the indigenous culture and heritage of the people closely. To get to those villages might require some amount of walking. In Bhutan, when you take a festival tour, you will have to reach a fortress/monastery to witness the colourful festivals of Bhutan. This might also involve making small hikes in order to reach the venue

GUIDED TOURS

All of our tours require guides as many parts of Nepal, Bhutan. India and Tibet have labyrinthine alleys and pathways. Many of the cultures are enigmatic and baffling at a glance and you might not understand it immediately. Some of the destinations need sensitivity as you might not be aware of local culture, rituals and customs. It is at such times that you will require a guide who will explain and impart information to you. The advantage of having a guide is that you do not have to rely upon a map or read a book in order to be informed about anything. Hinduism and Buddhism are the predominant religions in Nepal, India, Tibet and Bhutan. Both Hinduism and Buddhism are religions that draw and sculpt idols with various motifs and themes and bear religious symbolism. Some of these symbols might even be attached to a story, legend or scriptures that you might not even are familiar with. To understand the details of such motifs, you will require a knowledgeable guide touring with you.

Himalayan Dreams has excellent guides who can speak multiple languages, who are thoroughly professional and care for even the smallest of details. Our guides are a part of our team and we rely on the information provided by them while organizing cultural tours.

TRANSPORTATION

During all our tours, comfort is an aspect that we never ignore especially when you are being transferred from one destination to another. Transportation is the most important aspect of your tour because it the part that decides whether you are ready and excited for the next day or not. If your transfers and journeys are not comfortable, it shows upon your mood and health. From picking you up at the airport to dropping you off at the airport at the end, transportation is something that we put a lot of our trust in.
