Ghorepani Ghandrung Trek
The trek to Ghorepani - Poon Hill (Pun Hill)is truly called the best of the trekking in Nepal. The trek offers the spectacular mountain scenery along with charming villages inhabited particularly by the Gurungs and Magars, dense rhododendron forests full of birds and deep sub-tropical valleys, all set below the Annapurnas with the picturesque peak of Machhapuchhare (Fishtail Peak) dominating the skyline.

Day by Day

  • Day 01 Arrive in Kathmandu [1300m]

    • Arrive Katmandu, assistance upon arrival and transfer to Hotel. Experience our unique hospitality at the airport, Traditional Tika welcome with welcome drink at Hotel Garden and key distribution. Briefing about the Program.

      Explore vibrant and eclectic Kathmandu, artistically rich with an ancient cultural heritage full of fascinating sights. Visit the living goddess Kumari Devi. Visit Swoyambunath Stupa, said to be one of the oldest Buddhist Stupas in the World, which is majestically set high on a hill overlooking Kathmandu Valley. It is nicknamed the monkey temple after the tribe of monkeys that look after the hill and often amuses the visitors.

  • Day 02 KATHMANDU TO POKHARA/NAYAPUL/TIKHEDHUNGA

    • Morning breakfast at hotel: Transfer to Domestic airport, fly to Pokhara. Please choose right side window as you can see spectacular views of the Himalayas during your 20 minutes flight. Upon arrival in Pokhara transferred to Nayapul.
      We begin our trek at Nayapul, driving to the road head. After 15 minutes short walk along the bank of the Modi Khola, we reach Birethanti (1065 m) a large village that has many shops and teahouses. From there, the trail continues through the village. The trail follows the north bank of the Bhurungdi Khola. From there, the trail climbs steadily up the side of the valley to Hille at 1495 m and after the short climb, we reach Tikhedhunga at 1525 m. This trek offers a short and relatively easy day, during journey and allows us to become used to the experience of trekking in Nepal. Overnight accommodation will be at the local lodge/ Guest House including all meals. Please remember that we choose best available lodges in the trek.

  • Day 03 TIKHEDHUNGA TO GHOREPANI VIA ULLERI HILL

    • Trek to Ghorepani. Leaving Tikhedunga, we begin our journey with steep climb to Ulleri. Ulleri is a large Magar village at 2070 m. Then the trail continues to ascend more gently, through fine forests of oak and rhododendron towards Banthanti at 2250 m. Then we make our trek towards Nangethanti at 2460 m. After an hour walk brings you to Ghorepani at 2775 m. Overnight accommodation will be at the local lodge/ guest house including all meals.

  • Day 04 GHOREPANI TO TADAPANI

    • Visit Poon Hill (3100m) early next morning about one hour walk you can have the excellent views of Machapuchre, Annapurnas and Dhaulagiri and Nilgiri Himal and in spring best views of Rhododendron flowers in its vicinity or in the trail in between Ghorepani-Ghandrung . The red one called Lali Gurans, which is the national flower of Nepal. From Ghorepani you leave the main trail that leads you to Jomsom/Muktinath, instead you now walk to Tadapani which fairy easy and leisure. Walk across the villages and tea house dotted on the trail gives enormous thrill feeling.

  • Day 05 TADAPANI TO GHANDRUNG

    • Trek to Ghandrung leisurely. Some parts of the trail are slippery during December and January due to snow condition. Decend to Ghandrung. Ghandrung is a large Gurung village located above Modi Khola (river). This place offers excellent views of Annapapurna South, Gangapurna (7455m). Annapurna III (7555m), and Machapuchre (Fishtail) at the far reaches of the valley. There are several hotels and tea houses here. Camp in terraced fields.

  • Day 06 GHANDRUNG TO POKHARA AND FLY TO KATHMANDU

    • A scenery drive to Pokhara gives you is about an hour. Transfer to Hotel

  • Day 07 FINAL DEPARTURE FROM KATHMANDU

    • Leisurely breakfast at the hotel. Rest of the day on your own for last minute shopping, catching up with new acquaintances or bidding farewell to old ones.
      Transfer to the airport for your onward flight to home.
