Mera Peak is in the Everest Region and climbing it might give you a lot of experience. Although it is not considered technical, it can certainly help you understand mountaineering in a practical way. You need to first hike up to the base camp from which the climbing will take you about 2-3 days. From the top of the mountain there are excellent views of almost all the mountains in the Everest region. There are two high base camps located respectively at 5385m and 5800m.
