Pele La mountain pass at 3420m is the corridor that leads to Central Bhutan.
Traveling east from Wangdue Phodrang, Pele La opens your access to the magnificent Phobjikha valley. This is the reason why Pele La is considered an important pass. It opens up to the heart of Bhutan and lets you in to perhaps the most beautiful part of Bhutan. Pele is marked by a glorious chorten and a massive assortment of prayer flags fluttering across a hill. From the pass, if the weather is clear, one can see Mount Jhumolhari (7314m), Mount Jichu Drake (6989m) and Mount Kang Bum (6526m) along with a host of other mountains in the Bhutan Himalayas.
