This is one of Nepal's leading Responsible tourism properties and sets the standard for sustainability in the middle hiss of the country. The lodge is both verified by Yardstick UK and certified by GSTC Travellife to Gold Standard (2017-2019). There are just 18 rooms to ensure the lodge remains an oasis of solitude and calm, ideal for a detox from the hustle and bustle of busy lives. Every room has attached bathrooms, and offers a veranda that provides pleasant mountain views and a special area for private relaxation. The rooms are in traditional style stone and slate cottages throughout the spacious grounds, decorated with local artefacts, historic photographs and original works of art by international artists.
Allowing guests to be closer to a Himalayan natural settings, there aren't any televisions at Tiger Mountain Pokhara Lodge, but every room has books on Himalayan themes, board games and playing cards. Wi-fi is available in the main bar area of the lodge and Col. Jimmy's Library celebrates one of the great legends of the Himalaya and father of trekking, Lt. Col. James Roberts MVO MC, a well decorated Gurkha officer and reputed Himalayan climber who first summited many of the peaks visible from the lodge. The main lodge is built of local materials to resemble a typical Nepali fireplace, bar, spacious aangan (terrace) and comfortable seating areas on a deep veranda.
Authentic Nepalese and home-style western food is served and the ingredients are mostly grown in the lodge's own organic vegetable garden under the care of Head Gardener, Jit Bahadur, and farm. Meals, by head Cook Lalu and his award-winning team, are served in the main lodge's dining room, on the terrace or in the grounds. A table d'hote menu is followed but guests can choose from various seasonal options. There is a salt-water swimming pool, and a team of expert local guides to encourage guests to head out and explore the rich diversity of the surrounding villages, farmland and forests. Walks from an hour to a full day-hike (picnic meals included) are available and they can focus on flora and fauna (all the guides re competent naturalists), local cultural exploration or just plain exercise.
